How to Create a Website Step 4 Register your Domain Names.

Once you do your keyword research to determine your website traffic, you can use these keywords to register your domain names applied in the how to create a website tutorial.

Important: Always register your trademark, company name and branding domain names first!
At this step to create a website right, having domain name registration knowledge is power. The relationship between keywords and domain names is of the utmost importance. Search engines place the greatest value on keywords and where they find those keywords.

The greatest location that the search engines can find your primary keyword is in the domain name. This is why when you often search a highly competitive keyword phase on Google you will find a large number of the results containing the keyword to some degree. The degree that you incorporate the keyword in the domain name can vary.

As an example if you search in Google for “CSS Gallery” you will see in the search results a large number of domain names containing the term “CSS gallery”. In this case a pure domain like CSSGallery.com is of the greatest value, followed by CSSGallery.net and so on. These are known as premium domain names. Most of these types of domain names were already registered and have been so sense the early 90s to early 2000.

The next level of keyword rich premium domain names is by adding a hyphen such as in domain-cheap.com. Some would say using a hyphen in the domain name adds clarity when reading it by both humans and search engines. A hyphenated domain is a diluted variant of its pure non hyphenated version. In this example domain-cheap.com is only diluted by 1 additional character and still retains extreme search engine ranking potential and premium domain name value.

As the number of available domain names becomes fewer and fewer, the virtual frontier of available domain names gets pushed further out. This requires greater creativity in domain name creation. What does all this mean to the customer searching for a domain name. This actually means a great savings of both time and money. It has been our experience that it takes 1/10th or less the amount of effort to rank a website for a keyword when the domain name actually contains that keyword.

At this point of the tutorial we are actually beginning to cross topics into SEO. Don’t worry if you don’t fully understand (S)earch (E)ngine (O)ptimization, we will be discussing in great detail the aspects of SEO search engine optimization in later steps. For now let us just say all search engine optimization boils down to keywords and inbound links from other websites.

Imagine if you could accomplish the same task as your competitors, but with only a tenth of the effort. This would open up doors of opportunity not previously available to you. This makes it possible for you to create more websites on the same budget and thus to also become your own competitor. It is a proven marketing tactic to double the amount of business or visits to your product by adding additional websites. With a little planning and preparation these websites can even come up in the same search results.

It is a popular and successful tactic to appeal to different market demographics for the same product. As an example one could create a product, wrapping that product in a simple, clean and attractive presentation and then charge an average fee. At the same time creating an exclusive competitor that offers the elite high end version of the product repackaged with a executive design. Customers are able to charge considerably more for those products.

There is an interesting phenomenon among shoppers of different social classes. When two people of different financial status are presented with what is in effect the same exact product repackaged, they each are attracted to their shopping priorities. The frugal customer will often seek the lowest price over quality, while the elite customer will simply seek the best. Each is a very valid marketing approach and can be tuned to perfect harmony.
